Core Responsibilities and Expertise Required
The Senior Chemist will act as a technical authority within the Quality Control division, specializing in analytical methods, particularly in Gas Chromatography (GC) related to the Mixed Feed Cracker (MFC) plant. Key responsibilities include:
- Technical Leadership: Consulting, coordinating, and executing complex analyses for operational sectors, while guiding junior chemists and providing specialized advice on technical matters affecting SATORP’s processes.
- Method Development: Leading the development and implementation of advanced testing methods, including the selection and purchase of new equipment, comprehensive training, quality control, and rigorous documentation according to ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Systems.
- Problem Resolution: Undertaking original investigative studies to resolve technical problems, preparing formal reports and manuals, and staying current with industry advancements in analytical techniques (e.g., chemo-metrics modeling analysis).
- Quality Assurance: Developing and implementing statistical quality control programs, monitoring the performance of laboratory staff, and proactively discussing results with the On-Stream Analyzer team to maintain accuracy.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring full compliance with SATORP environmental health and safety regulations.
Function Requirements for Senior Chemist

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a highly relevant discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a Senior Chemist.
- Minimum of 10+ years of total analytical experience in a Petrochemical laboratory environment.
- At least 5 years in a similar senior/supervisory position.
- Specialization: Proven, extensive experience in all types of Gas Chromatography and related analyses specific to Mixed Feed Cracker (MFC) plant processes.
